Blurb

~ A dangerous attraction…is mounting ~

Replaying her hip-wriggling dance steps in his head, Mofe is on the trail of a dancer he saw in a beach club in Europe. No one seems to recall who she is, not even the beach club owner. But he has her picture on his phone. When he walks into the city’s courtroom and sets eyes on the female District Judge presiding over his brother’s case, he knows he has found the elusive dancer. Whether or not his brother receives a jail sentence is in her hands.

Caring for her little sister takes up most of Ronke’s free time, but she knows how to juggle work with having a good time abroad dancing on bar tables. The moment Ronke locks gaze with the dark, gorgeous man with rippling muscles and tattooed arms, a dangerous attraction sizzles inside her. With no plans to forgo her current no-strings secret affair, she disappears without a trace, hoping never to see the stranger again. But when he walks into her courtroom, her stomach walls tighten and she can barely breathe.

Can Mofe convince a woman who holds the key to his brother’s future to date him? And will Ronke deny her attraction to protect her reputation?

“The question is why would a magistrate judge be spotted dancing on a bar table in nothing but a bra and thong in one of Europe’s beach clubs? And then appear serious on Monday morning in a London courtroom wearing a wig and black gown?” While he waited for her answer, he took a passing look around her chambers.

Thick, leather-bound books graced wooden shelves on every side, but the room was immaculate and clean. Grey carpets complimented the beige upper walls.

The gold and black name plaque on the desk indicated her name was District Judge Ronke Oni.

“What I do with my time is none of your business,” Ronke snapped as she swivelled around. But a sly grin wired her full lips as she got up on her feet.

Gone was the dark gown. And so was the funny wig. Now, her silky white ruffled top fell wide open, enough for him to see the swell of her cleavage.

Peeling his eyes away from her chest was not easy, but he tried. With the black skirt suit plastered around her body so tight, she looked like a bomb waiting to explode.

Electric currents flashed through his body and he laughed to quench the upsurge.

Up close, she looked a little older than he’d thought, still, she was a raving beauty.

“And what was it you wanted from the dancer?” Ronke asked with her arms folded beneath her busts, pushing her breasts further out of her top.

And for a fleeting second, he wondered if she wedged her full breasts with a lacy bra.

“Are you kidding me, Ma’am? You’re not going to deny the fact you’re an erotic dancer over the weekend and a learned woman during the week?”

With her butt perched against her curved walnut desk and her legs crossed at the ankle, she looked like a sexy model about to strip off her clothes for the camera.

And as long as he was the photographer, they would have an album of perfect shots.

“Since you took the trouble to trace me down here...” she started.

Teaser

Middle of the night at 3 a.m.

Bang! Bang!

The crashing sound and Aize’s howling sent Theo racing down several flights of stairs, half-naked. His feet thudded across the carpeted hallway all the way to the guest room.

Out of his mind with fear, he pushed the door open.

The room was bathed in absolute darkness, so he stabbed on the wall switch. On the bed, Aize shielded her eyes with her right hand from the sudden glare of light.

Near the bed, one of the bedside teal-coloured table lamps was broken to pieces. ‘Jeez!’ he exclaimed. The table lamp must have received a hard knock.

As Theo stepped forward, his heart broke when he saw Aize’s face awash with tears. Getting into bed beside her, he crooned, ‘My God! Shish baby, I’m here. Don’t cry, you’ll be alright.’

Cradling her head on his bare chest, he ran his fingers through her thick, wavy hair, careful not to touch her plastered temple. ‘Calm down, baby,’ he soothed when her breathing remained rapid and shallow.

Her distress, quelled the tension in his groin.

‘I had a nightmare,’ Aize whimpered when she could speak. ‘It was terrifying.’

‘I’m here, okay?’ he assured her.

Suddenly, she scowled at the room and turned up her eyes to glare at him. ‘Where am I?’ she wailed, fright oozing from her voice.

‘You’re in my home and you’re safe. Calm down baby, I’ve got you in my arms. No one is going to hurt you.’

Aize pushed away from him and jumped from his lap, moving to sit at the other end of the double bed.

‘In your house? How did I get here?’ she asked, narrowing her eyes. ‘Why didn’t you take me to my own home?’

Anxiety

I've come to the conclusion that I suffer from anxiety. The last month or so, due to difficult circumstances in my life, my symptoms have reached their peak and it's taken a toll on my body. But there are ways to cope and gradually I'm finding things that help. I hope that this post can help someone, even if you only suffer mild symptoms. These ideas / actions have helped me:

1. I'm strong. No matter how I feel or think about myself, I am a strong person and I can get through this.

2. Worry doesn't get me anywhere. It's important to plan for the future but to go over all the negative possibilities in the mind eventually takes its toll on the mind and body and robs a person of their life.

3. Practising gratefulness is a good way to deal with anxiety and dark thoughts.

4. Being mindful and recognizing my negative thought patterns helps to stop them before they get out of hand and my body takes a downward spiral.

5. Exercise!! (I think this is honestly one of the best). I've just started running again and have to say it's one of the best things in the world! (Even if I only have time for about fifteen minutes.)

6. Self-care. Taking time every day - no matter how long my to-do list is - to do things that make me happy is vital. It's not selfish. It's about survival.

7. Believe. Having faith that God has my best interests at heart and that he is working things out is the only way I can cope. I have to surrender and stop trying to control everything. It's one of the scariest things in the whole world, but control comes from fear and fear doesn't open the way to good things.

If you've gone through anxiety at all, what has helped you to cope?

Spotlight on Iris Blobel's More Beginnings

Today, I want to welcome my writer friend, Iris, to my blog. She's talking about her latest book - More Beginnings.

~~ More Beginnings ~~
by Iris Blobel

♥♦♥ BLURB ♥♦♥

Zach Taylor, an escort in Sydney, living in Hobart, enlists the help of Natasha Peterson when his teenage friend, Mia, runs away. He soon finds out that the ‘dragon’ is really more of a kitten. And although Natasha, Mia’s teacher, is attracted to him as well, she has her own problems to deal with, not to mention her initial reaction to Zach’s occupation.

Will Zach’s job keep him from a chance to be with Natasha?

Life is good for teenager Mia Levesque. But when Darren Schuster shows up in Hobart, she knows something is up once Sophie and Mark cut their weekend away short and rush home in the middle of the night. When Sophie won’t answer Mia’s questions, emotions run high, and Zach confirms Darren’s identity to Mia. Disappointed, angry, and feeling alone, Mia runs away.

Will life settle back into a routine for Mia once she finds out about the stranger in her life?

New Beginnings have given the Levesque girls a new start in life, will More Beginnings be another chance for them?

♥♦♥ EXCERPT ♥♦♥

Zach Taylor’s young neighbour, Mia,
let out a long sigh as she joined him on his front porch and sat next to him on
the swing. Enjoying a cool lemonade, he invited her to grab a soft drink from
the fridge as well. It was a warm summer day, and the air showed no sign of
cooling down. A lot of people in Hobart were weary of the unusual hot spell for
the very southern Australian city.
With another hefty sigh, Mia
raked through her long, blond hair and stared into the distance. “Honestly,
Zach, she’s a dragon. I’m sure she does it on purpose. She doesn’t like me. She
thinks I’m spoilt.”
The dragon in question was
Miss Peterson, Mia’s high school English teacher. There was no doubt that Mia
liked school, and she enjoyed her classes. And even though English wasn’t her
worst subject, it certainly was the toughest one, with Miss Peterson piling on
homework one after the other.
Zach took a sip of his drink
before he replied, “Hey, pumpkin, settle down. What’s that supposed to mean
you’re ‘spoilt’?”
She lifted her shoulder in a
slight shrug. “You know!”
Raising his brows, he replied,
“Actually I don’t know! Isn’t she Sophie’s good friend?”
Another shrug. “Kind of, I suppose.
They used to do the boxing stuff together, and since Soph’s carrying a baby,
they go and enjoy coffee and cake instead every once in a while.”
Ignoring his chuckle, she went
inside and helped herself to cold lemonade. She opened the can with a simple click
as she returned outside and took a long sip.
